Kansai Airport to Osaka: Train, Bus and Fares

Kansai Airport to Namba takes 34 minutes on Nankai's Rapi:t. Compare Nankai, JR Haruka and limousine buses, with fares, plus Itami Airport.

How it's made

For Namba, take Nankai. The limited express Rapi:t connects Kansai Airport Station and Nankai Namba Station in a minimum of 34 minutes, and the Airport Express takes about 45. For Osaka Station, Shin-Osaka, Tennoji or Kyoto, JR’s Haruka runs direct. A limousine bus is the third option, and it also goes to Universal Studios Japan. All fares below are as of 27 October 2026, and operators do change them, so you’ll want to confirm before you go.

Nankai from Kansai Airport to Namba

Nankai’s own timetable page gives Kansai Airport to Namba as the limited express Rapi:t (fastest 34 minutes) or the Airport Express (about 45 minutes).

The Rapi:t is all reserved seating, and you’ll need a limited express ticket on top of your normal train ticket. As of October 2026 the limited express charge is ¥700 for a regular seat and ¥910 for a Super Seat for adults (¥350 and ¥560 for children). Buying the ticket on board adds ¥300. Nankai’s ticketless service sells it for ¥150 less. The Airport Express needs only the normal fare, which you can look up in Nankai’s fare search or on the machines at the station. The Rapi:t digital ticket and other Nankai discount tickets are listed on Nankai’s ticket page, and you can also buy them at the Nankai ticket office at Kansai Airport Station.

JR from Kansai Airport

JR West runs the Kansai-airport Express Haruka direct to Tennoji, Osaka, Shin-Osaka and Kyoto. Haruka is a limited express, so a normal fare and a limited express charge both apply. JR’s Kansai-Airport Rapid Service and local trains need only the basic fare.

JR West sells a discounted one-way Haruka ticket to visitors. The conditions are strict. You’ll need to hold a foreign passport and enter Japan as a temporary visitor, and you can’t buy the ticket inside Japan, only before you arrive. The sale price depends on the day you buy it.

Children aged 6 to 11 pay half. You can’t get off at intermediate stations. JR West’s page doesn’t list a journey time for Haruka, so check the timetable for your day. If you plan a lot of JR travel, see the JR Kansai passes on Osaka passes.

Limousine bus

The Kansai Airport Transportation Enterprise runs the limousine buses. Fares are one-way adult fares, and times are from Terminal 1.

Bus journeys depend on traffic, so they aren’t fixed, and the buses run from each terminal, so check the timetable and stop for your terminal. Child fares on these routes are half the adult fare. No reservation is needed for the Namba route, which is first come, first served.

Using a pass on arrival

The Osaka Amazing Pass has an airport edition for Kansai Airport. It’s a 28-hour ticket at ¥5,300, sold from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027, and it includes one trip on Nankai from Kansai Airport Station to Namba Station. It doesn’t cover the trip back to the airport, and reserved-seat limited express trains cost extra. See Osaka passes for what it adds.

Osaka Itami Airport

Itami (ITM) is the domestic airport, closer to the city. Osaka Monorail runs from Osaka Airport station, and its own page gives example journeys with a change. About 21 minutes to Umeda by monorail to Hotarugaike and then Hankyu to Osaka-umeda, and about 29 minutes to Shin-Osaka by monorail to Senri-chuo and then the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line, which continues as the Midosuji Line. These are the operator’s examples, not a timetable, and the fares on that page date from October 2019, so look up the current fare before you go. For buses from Itami, check the stops and times on the airport’s own site. Limousine buses also run between Itami and Kansai Airport, in about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes for ¥2,200 one way.

The Osaka Amazing Pass has an Itami edition at ¥3,800 for one day and ¥5,400 for two days. See Osaka passes.
