A look at where the 1970 Expo pavilions, exhibits and monuments ended up. The exhibition alone is ¥1,200, or ¥1,500 with the permanent display, cash only.
豊臣大坂城の痕跡をたどれ！デジタルスタンプラリー
A digital stamp rally across six spots linked to Toyotomi-era Osaka Castle, including the Nishinomaru Garden, the plum grove, Gokuraku Bridge and Toyotomi Ishigaki-kan. Stamps are collected by GPS or QR code, and the first 5,000 people to collect all six get a clear file folder. Entering the keep and the stone wall museum needs a paid ticket (adults ¥1,200).

大阪文化万博 Osaka Fringe2026
A month-long open-access arts festival across Osaka, with shows at venues including AxCROSS, Aoyama Building and Kawaguchi Church. Some events are free and others are ticketed, such as Kansai Comedy at ¥1,000 or ¥2,000.

A special exhibition on the beginnings of glassmaking in ancient Japan, in the basement special gallery next to the Chikatsu-Asuka burial mound park. 万博の森 どんぐりフェス
An autumn acorn programme with a stamp rally, an acorn map of 17 tree types, an acorn and nut pool and mini guided talks. Collecting three stamps earns a small gift. Some linked events need advance booking.

Light installations run from the rose garden to the Hanshin Expressway overpass, including suspended light orbs, rose-bouquet pieces that light the roses when touched, a projected pattern on Barazono Bridge and a light-and-mist piece. On 23 to 25 October a lit hot-air balloon (19:00 to 21:30), three live sets a night from 18:20 of jazz, R&B and soul, and a wine bar are added on the lawn plaza. Admission is free with no reservation. The lights go ahead in rain but may be moved or switched off in severe weather, and the balloon can be cancelled for rain or wind.

唐招提寺 釈迦念仏会
An 800-year-old Buddhist service in which the name of Shakyamuni is chanted before relics brought by Ganjin. Services run 21 October at 14:00 and 19:00, 22 October at 04:00, 14:00 and 19:00, and 23 October at 04:00 and 07:00. The inner sanctum of the hall is open for special viewing on 21 and 22 October from 09:00 to 16:00 and on 23 October from 09:00 to 15:00, for ¥200, except during services.

A cat-themed fair with more than 170 booths of cat food, goods and handmade items, plus panel exhibitions, talks and a cat photo studio. Adults ¥2,000, elementary school children ¥500, and children cannot enter alone.

Park event with a real-life escape game, a disaster food workshop, fire truck viewing, an earthquake experience vehicle until noon, food trucks and local produce stalls. Held in light rain and cancelled if it rains harder.
大阪キャンピングカーフェア2026 ～秋の大商談会～

Camping cars on display and for sale across Halls 1 to 3, with goods stalls, a festival-style area and pet-related events. Adult (junior high and up) tickets are listed as ¥800 in advance, ¥1,000 for an e-ticket on the day and ¥1,200 for a paper ticket on the day. Elementary school children pay less and under-school-age children are free.
第15回和酒フェス@大阪ベイタワー

A sake tasting festival with 31 breweries from around Japan pouring more than 160 kinds of Japanese drinks. Each of the four sessions lasts 2 hours 10 minutes and the tasting pass is ¥3,600, which includes an original ochoko cup. Guests must be 20 or older and children and strollers are not admitted.
生きた建築ミュージアムフェスティバル大阪2026
A two-day open house of Osaka architecture, described by the organiser as one of Japan's largest architecture events. The organiser's page lists 224 participating buildings as of 27 August 2026, from historic buildings to modern ones, with free entry. Some programmes need advance application and others are walk-in, and pre- and after-programmes run outside the two main days.
旧緒方洪庵住宅[適塾] 特別公開

During Ikefes Osaka the kitchen and earthen-floor area, normally closed to visitors, is opened and explained by student staff, about 10 minutes per tour with no booking. Going inside the building to the regular public areas still needs the normal admission fee. The house is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.

Student museum assistants guide visitors through the permanent displays, including the Machikaneyama crocodile fossil and the official replicas of two Nobel medals. Two tours run on 24 October, first come first served with up to 30 people each. Check in at the entrance hall at 11:00 or 14:00, and joining part way is allowed.
大阪大学中之島センター 特別公開

The centre opens its 8th floor meeting rooms and 6th floor seminar rooms for viewing, plus a VR theatre on the 5th floor, an exhibition on the university's former Nakanoshima campus buildings and an art exhibition on the 4th floor. No booking is needed for these. A talk on Nakanoshima modernist architecture on 25 October at 14:00 is already full.
市制施行90周年記念事業 くらしかん祭り2026

A consumer-life festival run with local groups, with a stamp rally, a cafe, local produce, a magic show, craft workshops and a children's clothing reuse corner. Some workshops charge for materials, and a pine-cone Halloween wreath workshop and a fraud-prevention seminar need advance registration. The car park is closed that day.
興福寺 北円堂特別開扉

The Hokuen-do is opened to the public for 16 days. It holds the seated Miroku Buddha and the standing Muchaku and Seshin statues. The Four Heavenly Kings shown at the Tokyo National Museum exhibition can be seen in the Chukon-do during this time. Open 09:00 to 17:00, last entry 16:45, no closing days, cash only. Adults and university students ¥500, junior and senior high ¥300, elementary ¥200.

Hands-on weaving, tea, bamboo crafts and spinning tops inside the old farmhouses, plus a puzzle trail and a lottery. Museum admission is 800 yen for adults, with some activities charged extra.

A 10 km race on a JAAF-certified loop course in Nagai Park and a 3.2 km Fun RUN. Entry is by advance registration at 4,000 yen for the 10K and 2,000 yen (junior high and up) or 1,000 yen (elementary) for the Fun RUN, plus a handling fee.

Harbour festival at the Toretore Ichi fish market grounds with a stage of street performance, balloon show, taiko and bingo, exhibits, and food stalls. A Japan Coast Guard patrol boat trip and a Sakai harbour cruise are free, with limited places. It goes ahead in rain and is cancelled in severe weather.
土塔に登ろう！史跡土塔特別公開

Visitors can climb to the top of the Doto, a historic site that is normally closed. Photo panels from the excavation and roof tiles inscribed with personal names are on show, plus panels about the monk Gyoki. If it rains the display moves to Doto-cho Bunka Kaikan. No reservation is needed.

A market with donuts, bagels, salt bread, food trucks and handmade accessories, held as part of the Naka Ward resident festival. Entry is free and there is no cap on visitors. A parent and child tea ceremony in three sessions needs advance registration.

A fair on ageing well, intergenerational exchange and care, held at the Toyonaka Community Symbiosis Center and the Okamachi and Sakuratsuka shopping streets.
環境フェスタ「氷室ふれあい里の駅」

A city environment open day with local farm produce and flower sales, food stalls and food trucks, Awa-bushi folk singing, pond shrimp scooping and wildlife displays. Factory tours run at 11:00, 12:00 and 14:00. Chimney climbs run at 10:45 and 13:00 for junior high students and older. It runs in light rain, but the chimney climb is cancelled and programmes may change. Free parking closes at 15:30.
一心寺門前浪曲寄席

A rokyoku (naniwabushi storytelling) show at the Isshinji Minami Kaisho hall, run by the Rokyoku Shinyu Kyokai since 1994. Four performers appear each day for three days from the second Saturday of the month. Programmes change daily.
