Osaka Passes: Amazing Pass, Metro Pass and JR Compared
The Osaka Amazing Pass is still sold at ¥3,500 for one day. Compare it with the Enjoy Eco Card, Kansai Railway Pass Lite, JR Kansai passes and ICOCA.
The Osaka Amazing Pass is still on sale as of October 2026. It costs ¥3,500 for one day and ¥5,000 for two, and it’s a smartphone ticket only. The Kansai Thru Pass isn’t among the passes its operator lists now, and the JR Kansai Area Pass stopped selling on 30 September 2026. The Osaka Metro’s Enjoy Eco Card is the transport-only option, at ¥820 on weekdays.
Every price below is as of 27 October 2026 and comes from the operator’s own page. Passes change from year to year, so check the page before you buy.

Osaka Amazing Pass
The Osaka Amazing Pass is run by Surutto Kansai. It’s a QR ticket on your phone that covers unlimited rides on Osaka Metro, Osaka City Bus (some routes excluded), the New Tram, and Hankyu, Hanshin, Keihan, Kintetsu and Nankai trains mainly running in Osaka City. JR isn’t in that list. It also gives free entry to about 40 sights and special offers at about 50 attractions and shops.

| Pass | Price | Sold |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | ¥3,500 | 25 March 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
| 2 days (consecutive) | ¥5,000 | 25 March 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
| Itami Airport edition, 1 day | ¥3,800 | 25 March 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
| Itami Airport edition, 2 days | ¥5,400 | 25 March 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
| Kansai Airport edition, 28 hours | ¥5,300 | 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
The rules that catch people out:
- Prices are the same for adults and children, and child passes aren’t sold.
- Tickets are valid for three months from purchase and must be activated by 31 March 2027.
- A digital day runs from 3:00 a.m. to 2:59 a.m. the next day. Start the ticket after 3:00 a.m.
- Sights can be entered during their opening hours. The Kansai Airport edition allows each sight once during its validity period.
- Payment is by credit card only. You can buy up to four tickets at a time, and tickets can be transferred to someone else after purchase. Counter sales are at the Kansai Tourist Information Center.
- Reserved-seat limited express trains on Kintetsu, Nankai, Keihan and Hankyu cost extra.
- The Kansai Airport edition includes one Nankai trip from Kansai Airport Station to Namba Station, and not the way back.
Some of the listed sights have their own conditions. The pass site gives regular fees of ¥2,000 for the Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden Observatory (pass entry only until 15:00), ¥1,200 for the Osaka Castle Museum and ¥1,500 for the Tsutenkaku observation deck. Those three come to ¥4,700 without any train rides. Osaka Castle Museum plus Tsutenkaku is ¥2,700, and with a weekday Enjoy Eco Card at ¥820 it’s ¥3,520, about the price of the one-day pass. So the pass wins when you add a third paid sight, and it’s close to even at two.
The operator’s site, SURUTTO KANSAI, has the full list of sights and the route map.
Enjoy Eco Card (Osaka Metro one-day pass)
The Enjoy Eco Card gives unlimited rides on all Osaka Metro lines (excluding Yumeshima Station) and Osaka City Bus for one day, except buses to IKEA Tsuruhama, some other specified routes, and on-demand buses. The adult price is ¥820 on weekdays and ¥620 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. A child pays ¥310. Buy it from a ticket machine in a subway station. The date is printed when you first put it through a ticket gate, and you can use it only on that day. Showing it gets discounts at about 20 sights in Osaka City, and there’s no expiry date before you start.
It doesn’t cover JR or the private railways, so it’s no help for Nara or Kobe.
Kansai Railway Pass Lite (replaces the Kansai Thru Pass)
Surutto Kansai’s current visitor pass for metros and private railways is the Kansai Railway Pass Lite. It doesn’t cover JR, Kyoto City Subway, the Keihan Keishin and Ishiyama-sakamoto lines, the Randen or buses.
| Pass | Adult price | Sold |
|---|---|---|
| 2 days (consecutive) | ¥5,200 | 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
| 3 days (consecutive) | ¥6,500 | 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 |
It’s a digital ticket, valid three months from purchase and activated by 31 March 2027. Reserved-seat express trains on Kintetsu, Nankai, Keihan and Hankyu cost extra. Its regions are Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and Himeji, and Wakayama, which includes Koyasan. Surutto Kansai’s pages no longer list the Kansai Thru Pass.
JR Kansai passes
JR West’s Kansai Area Pass stopped selling on 30 September 2026. A pass bought by then stays valid for its dates. That pass covered Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Himeji, Wakayama and Otsu, and the Haruka.

What JR West still lists for Osaka:
- Kansai Mini Pass. A 3-day pass at ¥3,000 for adults and ¥1,500 for children (6 to 11), covering Kyoto, Universal Studios Japan, Osaka, Namba, Kobe and Nara. It covers rapid and local trains, including the Kansai-Airport Rapid Service. The Haruka needs a separate limited express ticket, and the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen aren’t included.
- Kansai WIDE Area Pass. A 5-day pass at ¥12,000 for adults and ¥6,000 for children, for trips to Okayama, Takamatsu, Kinosaki Onsen, Amanohashidate, Tottori and Shirahama. It includes reserved seats on the Haruka, the Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Okayama, and other limited expresses.
- Haruka one-way ticket. A discounted ticket from Kansai Airport. The prices rise on 1 November 2026, and the table is on Kansai Airport to Osaka.
JR West’s rail passes require a foreign passport and entry as a temporary visitor. Read the conditions on the JR West page. For nationwide travel, see the Japan Rail Pass site.
ICOCA
ICOCA is JR West’s IC card. Osaka’s tourist board says it works on JR, Osaka Metro, private railways and buses. At Kansai-airport Station you can buy one from the ticket machines, though not with a credit card. Osaka Metro sells ICOCA at the pink ticket machines in every station, and ICOCA on Apple Pay also works on Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus. It’s the simplest choice if you don’t plan many paid sights.
Osaka e-Pass
The Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau also lists the Osaka e-Pass, a QR ticket for over 25 sights with no transport included. Check its official site for the current price and sights.
