A 6.5-hectare lawn garden opened in 1965 on the site said to have been the residence of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's wife, Kita no Mandokoro. About 300 cherry trees, mostly Somei Yoshino, bloom here in spring, and the Hoshoan teahouse stands in the northeast corner.

Adults pay ¥200 and the garden is closed Mondays and over the New Year. It opens 9:00 to 17:00 from March to October and 9:00 to 16:30 from November to February, and entry ends 30 minutes before closing. It's about a 10-minute walk from either station.

Two evenings of outdoor Noh and Kyogen on a special stage in Nishinomaru Garden, with Bunzo Otsuki among the performers. Rain moves the show to Otsuki Noh Theatre for holders of rain-substitute tickets. Ticket prices aren't printed in the press release.

The plum grove holds 105 varieties and 1,245 trees. Early varieties open from late December, the main season runs from late January to mid-February, and late ones bloom from late February to mid-March. The park hasn't published 2027 timing yet, so the dates here are to be announced.

Osaka Castle Park covers 105.6 hectares of moats, stone walls and plum trees, and the keep at its centre was rebuilt in 1931 as a museum of the Toyotomi era.
