The shrine to Sugawara no Michizane, god of learning, known locally as Tenma no Tenjin-san. It anchors the Tenjin Matsuri on 24 and 25 July, with about 100 boats and 5,000 fireworks on the river.

Entry is free. From Minami-morimachi (exit 4) or Osaka-Tenmangu (exit 7), the Tenjinbashisuji shopping arcade leads to the shrine.

Daily afternoon programme of Kamigata rakugo with a magic, juggling or storytelling act in between, in Osaka's rakugo hall. The programme changes every week. Advance tickets are ¥3,000, ¥3,300 on the day, ¥2,000 under 30 and ¥1,000 for school children.
