Nipponbashi
Electronics, retro games and a covered market east of Namba
Nipponbashi is where Osaka goes for electronics, anime, games and figures. Den Den Town runs along Sakaisuji, and Ota Road holds the shops and maid cafes. Kuromon Market sits close to the same station.
Nipponbashi has few places in the records, and almost all of them are shops. It's a short stop or a half-day for collectors, not an area with a long sightseeing list. The National Bunraku Theatre and Kuromon Market give it some range.
Shops keep their own hours, so plan around the ones you care about. Super Potato Otaroad and Mandarake Grand Chaos are both open every day of the year. For a base, the area sits on the Sennichimae and Sakaisuji lines, close to Namba.
Getting there
The nearest stations are Nippombashi, on the Sennichimae and Sakaisuji lines and Kintetsu, and Ebisucho for the southern end of the shops. Namba is the next hub along.
What to see
Den Den Town and Ota Road is the main draw, with anime, game and figure shops and a run of maid cafes. Nippombashi Street Festa, which includes a cosplay event, is held each year, though the 2026 edition has already finished.
Kuromon Market is covered and dates to the late Edo period. It's known for puffer fish. The market office is on 06-6631-0007.
